DIS or HIS example

Postby ericdede » Wed Mar 03, 2010 5:07 am

Hi all,

Are there some examples using DIS/HIS (or other interoperation protocols) ?

Thanks,

Eric,

Only DIS is included at the moment. As far as DIS-based examples, there are several - mainSim1, mainSim2, mainSim3, mainSim4, mainy1 and mainx9 that I can remember off the top of my head.

If you understand the OE design pattern, virtually any simulation you build can use DIS by simply "turning on" the interoperability interface in the input file.

Hi,

Can you please briefly explain how to use DIS to communicate with another DIS-enabled simulation/tool? I'm rather new to DIS and HLA and stuff like that so I'm rather curious about how it works actually.

Thanks and best regards.

That is a monster question. DIS is a IEEE spec that defines how independent autonomous simulations communicate and share data to create an interactive "virtual world".

A really good place to start in understanding how DIS works is a paper titled "DIS Plain and Simple". It can be found off the SISO website. SISO is a standard organization for defining this kind of stuff.

I've attached the paper to this message for ya...
